Why Swiss SMBs outsource their IT to ClearMedia.
IT outsourcing means handing over the operation of your entire IT (or parts of it) to a specialised service provider. For small and mid-sized businesses in Zurich and across Switzerland the reason is simple: an in-house IT department with the necessary breadth of knowledge (Apple, Windows, Linux, networking, security, cloud, telephony) quickly becomes too expensive at a certain size, and below 100 employees it is usually not economically feasible at all.
As a managed service provider (MSP) based in Zurich, we have taken full IT responsibility for companies across the most diverse industries since 2006, fiduciary firms and law offices, financial services and family offices, architects and medical practices, trades businesses such as electricians and plumbers, manufacturing and trade, agencies and media, as well as NPOs. What unites these clients: they want to focus on their core business and at the same time be sure that their IT stays modern, secure and available.
What sets ClearMedia apart from other IT providers in Zurich?
Three things. First, genuine multi-platform competence. Apple, Windows and Linux are looked after equally, not as a fallback, but as a specialisation. If your design team works on macOS, your accounting on Windows and your servers on Linux, that’s everyday business for us, not the exception.
Second, honest pricing. You pay only for actual work done, itemised transparently, with no monthly base fee for services you don’t use. If you need predictable response times and guaranteed availability, you add an SLA as a separate monthly flat rate. No hidden tariffs, no asterisks in the fine print.
Third, Swiss roots. Our team sits in Zurich, our datacenters are located in Switzerland, our backups don’t leave the country. For an on-site visit, an engineer is at your office within four hours, no sub-contractor, but someone you know by name.
Which companies benefit from IT outsourcing?
Typical triggers among our clients: the existing internal IT person is retiring or leaving; the company is growing and the one-person IT can’t keep up; a security incident has shown that things can’t go on as before; or the annual IT costs have become opaque and need to be made budgetable again. In all these cases, managed IT outsourcing is the fastest route to professional, predictable and secure IT, without risk, without headaches, without lock-in.
Talk to us. One hour of non-binding consultation is enough to clarify whether a switch makes sense for you, and if so, what the road there looks like.
Often asked before switching.
No. You keep ownership of data, licences and access, you define the strategy together with us and you get full transparency over tickets, costs and systems. A quarterly review with your management is standard.
You pay exclusively for actual work done, billed transparently. There is no monthly base fee for services you don’t use. If you need guaranteed response times and availability, you add an SLA as a monthly flat rate, with the amount depending on number of devices, complexity and the agreed service level. We provide concrete numbers after the first conversation, without sales pressure.
Yes. From a pure helpdesk to full IT responsibility, the scope is modular. Many of our clients start with support and maintenance and add security, cloud or telephony later.
We usually relieve internal staff of day-to-day work so they can focus on business-critical topics. We work alongside, not as a replacement, many of our long-standing clients still have their own IT coordinator.
Yes. Mac support has been one of our strengths for over two decades. We look after design teams, architecture offices and media companies with pure macOS setups including Jamf management, iPad rollouts and Apple Business Manager. We support pure Windows or mixed environments just as naturally.
We take over the technical knowledge transfer and ensure a clean handover of credentials, documentation and open tickets. Contract termination and communication with your previous provider stays with you, on request we supply handover checklists and liaise directly with the predecessor on technical questions.
By default exclusively in Swiss datacenters, Zurich Glattbrugg (ZRH-01) and Rümlang (ZRH-02), both ISO 27001 certified. Your backups don’t leave Switzerland. For Microsoft 365 we use the Swiss tenant model with data location Geneva/Zurich.
After the assessment, the handover typically takes two to four weeks, depending on size and complexity. In urgent cases (security incident, sudden loss of internal IT) we’re operational within 48 hours.
Does outsourcing pay off for you?
We work it out with you, honestly, with no sales pressure. One hour, and afterwards you know where you stand.
