From a typical project

“Finally servers that are faster than our old ones, and that sit in Switzerland.”

We had three hard requirements: data exclusively in Switzerland, a direct contact with an IT background, and a fixed monthly price with no egress surprises. ClearMedia was the only offer that signed all three points without an asterisk.

Private cloud from Switzerland

Why Swiss SMBs move their servers into our private cloud.

A private cloud is a dedicated, virtualised server environment used exclusively by a single organisation. Unlike a public cloud, your virtual servers, data and backups do not sit on a globally distributed, shared platform but on infrastructure operated for you, in our two Swiss datacenters in Zurich City and Zurich Ruemlang.

As a Swiss managed service provider with our own cloud platform, we operate this infrastructure ourselves, end to end. That means: we build the servers, run the network under our own AS49489, manage the firewalls, take care of the backups, and pick up the phone when you have a question. We do not resell a hyperscaler\'s cloud.

When is a private cloud the better choice over public cloud?

Public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is great for highly scalable, globally distributed workloads. For classic SMB workloads, i.e. ERP, file servers, domain controllers, industry-specific applications, mail and databases, a Swiss private cloud is usually significantly better:

  • Performance and latency: Your servers are physically in Zurich, and so are your employees. Latency is just a few milliseconds, not 20 to 50 like a public-cloud region abroad. Every user notices, every day.
  • Predictability: You pay a fixed monthly price, regardless of how much data you transfer or how often you restore backups. Public cloud charges egress per gigabyte, often only visible on the quarterly bill.
  • Swiss law, end to end: Data location, operations, support and backups remain in Switzerland. No US CLOUD Act, no Schrems II risk, no foreign authority access. For regulated industries (finance, fiduciary, legal, healthcare) this is often simply a baseline requirement.
  • A direct contact: Your engineer knows your setup, answers the phone and escalates internally. No ticket system with robotic replies and tiered escalations.

Who is our private cloud designed for?

Typically for SMBs with 5 to 50 employees in the greater Zurich area, who are retiring their own server infrastructure or moving from another provider. Common triggers: an in-house server room is being shut down, public cloud has become too expensive or too slow, compliance requirements no longer allow hyperscalers, or the next hardware refresh is coming up and the investment no longer makes sense. In all these cases, moving into our private cloud is often the most economical and safest option.

We support Windows, Linux and macOS equally well, one of our specialties. We accompany the migration end to end, without weekend downtime, and we are available afterwards as your single point of contact for your entire IT, if you wish.

Frequent questions

Often asked before the first call.

For SMBs that want to run their server infrastructure professionally, securely and predictably, without the overhead of an in-house public-cloud strategy. Typically companies with 5 to 50 employees in the greater Zurich area, often in finance, fiduciary, legal, healthcare, industry or trade. We also support smaller and larger companies, but this is the sweet spot.

Yes. vCPU, memory and storage can be adjusted dynamically at any time, in both directions. You pay for what you actually use, with a fixed monthly price per configuration and no hidden egress tariffs.

In our two own, geo-redundant datacenters ZRH-01 in Zurich City and ZRH-02 in Zurich Ruemlang. Both are Tier IV compliant, run on ISO 27001 certified processes, with biometric access, CCTV, redundant power and cooling, and 24/7 Swiss engineers on site.

Windows, Linux and macOS-based workloads, supported equally. We run Windows Server, Active Directory, RDS, all common Linux distributions (Debian, Ubuntu LTS, RHEL, Rocky) as well as container platforms with Docker or Kubernetes.

On request VMware vSphere or Proxmox VE. We use both in production, you pick, or let us mix them.

Continuous replication between ZRH-01 and ZRH-02 keeps the second site warm. If one site goes down, your environment keeps running in the other, with an RPO under 60 minutes and an RTO under 15 minutes, contractually assured.

No. Data, backups, support, engineering and legal venue remain in Switzerland. No CLOUD Act, no Schrems II concern, no foreign authority access.

Our platform is aligned with the recommendations and circulars of FINMA and runs on ISO 27001 processes. We provide auditable logs and access records that you can use for your internal control framework or an external auditor.

We do not publish price lists, because every setup is individual. After a workshop we send you a written quote with a fixed monthly price, no hidden egress or surprise fees. The one-time investment is usually limited to replacing your old servers.

Yes, regardless of whether you run Windows, Linux or macOS-based servers today, on premises or already in another cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP). We plan the migration so that there is no weekend downtime and no data loss.
