Yes. Microsoft secures platform availability, but not your content against deletion. In the shared-responsibility model, the customer is responsible for the recoverability of their data. Accidentally deleted mails, compromised mailboxes or long compliance retentions can only be covered with an external backup.
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the established platform for M365 backups. We operate the solution ourselves; backups sit exclusively in our Swiss datacenters.
No. We use Veeam only for M365. For the online backup of on-prem servers we run a separate, professional backup platform with its own agents for Windows, Linux and macOS.
That is the upper limit for backed-up data volume per customer. For most SMBs that is more than enough; for larger setups we discuss the configuration individually.
For M365, individual mails or files are restored within minutes. For on-prem server backups, speed depends on data volume and internet connectivity. For very large restores we can also ship the backup physically on request.
No. Both services use immutable storage. The backups are unchangeable during their retention window, and even a compromised admin account cannot overwrite or delete them.
Exclusively in our two Swiss datacenters (ZRH-01 Zurich City and ZRH-02 Zurich Ruemlang), stored geo-redundantly. Your backups do not leave Switzerland.
